Preprint of a new study about brain inflammation in long-covid, led by Mike VanElzakker, out now!

A new study, led by Michael B VanElzakker, looking at neuroinflammation related to long-covid is currently a preprint on bioRxiv. The study recruited participants with long COVID (post-acute sequelae of COVID-19, or PASC) that had a range of symptomatology and was looking at the relationship between neuroinflammation and markers of vascular dysfunction. The study used PET neuroimaging, a classic imaging technique of the Loggia Lab, and compared participants with long COVID to healthy control. The study found a significant increase in neuroinflammation in those with long COVID in various brain regions as compared to the health controls.

The study is generating a lot of discussions, with an Altmetric Score surpassing 1000 within a few days of publication!
