Joya Cooper-Hohn

I graduated from Harvard College in May 2024 with an Honors B.A. in Biology, specializing in the Mind, Brain, and Behavior track. As an undergraduate, I worked as a research assistant in the Butovsky Laboratory at BWH, where I investigated the role of microglia in Alzheimer’s disease progression. For my senior thesis, I studied how neutralizing IL-17F influences Alzheimer’s disease symptoms and alters the microglia phenotype.

I am excited to continue my research under Dr. Loggia at the A. A Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging in collaboration with Dr. Gilman at the Center for Addiction Medicine. Here, I will be studying the effects of cannabidiol on neuroinflammation in individuals with depression and lower back pain using MRI and PET technology.
